The mission of the Network for Women with Careers in Technology is to advance careers for professionals in Information Technology through education, mentoring, and providing outstanding professional networking opportunities.

NWCT provides its members with various forums for exchanging ideas and sharing information. At special events such as the Annual Trends in IT Panel, the Annual Women Executive Dinner, monthly dinner meetings, and Dutch luncheons, members establish invaluable professional and social contacts and discuss topics of interest that promote professional development.  In 2013, NWCT created a Social Responsibility fund which is now used to host mentoring sessions for female students at area universities.

The membership consists of women and men in the Delaware Valley who represent every aspect of the IT profession, including design, development, support, recruiting, sales, and marketing of information systems and software. Additionally, its members come from a wide range of companies of all sizes, products, services, markets, and information environments.

NWCT was founded in 1980 as the Network of Women in Computer Technology, a non-profit organization,  In 2014, NWCT rebranded its name to the Network for Women with Careers in Technology, and upgraded their logo to depict "six dots" or the foundational pillars of the organization: career development, peer networking, education opportunities, exposure to leading-edge technologies, mentoring,  and volunteerism.

Throughout the years, the majority of NWCT members have advanced their careers, either advertently or inadvertently, through contacts made at NWCT or via the many various enlightening speakers .  Members find out where hidden, unadvertised jobs are, become visible to the outside world, gain leadership skills and a wider perspective of what is happening in other organizations, and learn from each other in a supportive and professional environment.
